About Us: Lead Reduction and Healthy Homes Initiative

Our Lead Reduction and Healthy Homes Initiative supports Barbour County residents in building safer domestic spaces by providing guidance, skills, and onsite aid. By prioritizing the mitigation of lead-based risks, HHI promotes wellness across our local area. This program was granted to the City of Clayton by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to boost our public health.

Outreach and Education

We empower our community with the knowledge needed to identify and prevent lead hazards. Through local workshops and distributions, we ensure every family understands how to keep their homes safe.

Home Remediation

Our program provides professional lead hazard control services to eligible households. We facilitate critical repairs and remediation to remove lead paint risks and improve overall home health standards.

Training

We assist local professionals in securing essential lead abatement certifications and licenses through Alabama SafeState. Our initiative mentors contractors and inspectors to meet state health standards, ensuring a skilled workforce for a safer community.
